It may only be three songs long – but if “The Sun Sank” is any indication as to the rest of the “Turns Red” EP, LITE have taken their signature sound and evolved – in part thanks to the inclusion of the very “modern” synthesizer no less. Check out the captivating video below.

You could be forgiven for letting the intro fool you into believing you were at a rave. But when the staggered drums kick in, fans of LITE will know that they’re on the right way home. A rather robotic synth riff then cuts its way into the mix, with the signature clean guitars and groovy bass as backup, just inviting you to come up with some funky moves to match the futuristic dance vibe that’s going on. There’s even enough room in the song for a acoustic guitar breakdown, before once again breaking into some robot rock.

Whilst not being a massive departure from the almost organic math rock sounds of the past, there’s enough creativity here to indicate that LITE still have their spark. Look out for them playing shows all over Japan in the next few months!

We’re still working on getting some copies into Australia, but if you can’t wait, check out iTunes – or if you must have a physical copy, Transduction Records or the plethora of Japanese sites (go via their Myspace)that stock this E.P.

And for their back catalogue – well,  you’re at the right place :)
